I have been training Capoeira for some time now, and I am a NZ qualified fitness instructor.
I was first introduced to Capoeira when I was a teenager in my home town of Espirito Santo, Vitoria, Brazil and it made a huge impact on my life. Capoeira gave me a passion for life and provided me with discipline and focus, at a time when I could have easily been influenced by the wrong people and turned to crime, like many teenage boys living in the poorer areas of Brazil.
I started training in Group Capoeira Brasil, in Vila Velha, Espirito Santo, Brazil and after coming to New Zealand in 2002, I am now developing the group Capoeira Brasil here under the supervision of Master Paulinho Sabia, one of the founders of Group Capoeira Brasil, from Rio de Janeiro.
I have been teaching Capoeira in the Bay of Plenty since 2006, and currently have both kids and adult classes in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa and Te Puke. I also teach workshops for schools and groups, as well as perform at festivals and events all over the Bay of Plenty Region and New Zealand.
I am passionate about Capoeira and fitness and enjoy helping my students reach their goals. Our group actively promotes Capoeira, the Brazilian culture, health and fitness in the community through workshops and performances at sport and community festivals. |
